Irish Centres: Dublin City University (DCU)

Dublin City University

Dublin City University is one of Ireland’s youngest universities gaining official recognition in 1989 and is based on the northside of the city near to Dublin Airport, while only 5.3km from Dublin city centre.

DCU was one of Ireland’s first universities to embed work placements and is a leader in industry collaboration and innovation. This marked a cultural shift away from traditional academic models toward a more career-focused, outward-looking education system.

The Campus consists of bright spacious classrooms, three basketball courts, sports hall and several other studios for a variety of activities. There is also a supermarket, pharmacy, and a large restaurant with a coffee shop on site. DCU is also home to the Helix Theatre.
